All of our hardcover books come with library quality double-fan adhesive binding and acid-free endpapers in white or off-white standard. We also offer the options of oversewing (also known as side-sewing) the binding, and head banding,

For you covers, we offer several choices, from laminated or un laminated covers, to a wide selection of materials for foil stamped titles. Any size book can be made into a hard cover books, but depending on the size can limit what choices of binding you may use. For example, very small page count books may have to be sewed.

Avalon gives you the choice to upgrade your hardcover book's binding from a library quality double-fan glue to a oversewn binding. Oversewing is the process of sewing loose leafs of the book block together through the side to create a very strong binding. If you wish to have your book oversewn, you must leave at least a 5/8" margin on the spine.

Cost: $0.60 extra per book

A headband is a decorative band of colored thread at the head or tail of a hardcover book. At one time they distinguished between the headband and the tailband, but now they just call them both the headband. Originally this band was made up of the thread that held book and the boards together. On most books today it is only a decorative piece that is glued onto the book block.
