There are many other standard sizes of books in the Modern, Traditional British and American Library styles. The most important thing to remember is that with on demand printing, we can make your book almost any size you want it to be.

The standard paper we use for the interiors of our books is a 70 # offset weight. We just feel that this heavier stock makes for a better feeling book. The pages are sturdier and it makes your book thicker. We can, of course, use any paper weight you'd like.

Often on thicker books, over 250 pages, we do suggest looking at using a thinner paper just to keep the thickness down.

Here's a good link for more information on the various paper weights their equivalents.

We can print your interior pages in either color or black & white. Many other POD providers will charge you for all B&W or all color. With our digital printing systems, we can split your costs between the B&W and colors pages. If the color pages are grouped together within the book, the pages can be printed separately and inserted into the black & white pages, which are cheaper to print on a true B&W machines. If the color pages are spread out through the book, then it become easier to print the entire book on the color machine. In this case, you are charged for color and B&W at a different rate, but the B&W rate is slightly higher than on a true B&W machine.

There is also the option of having no-bleed or a full bleed on each page. A bleed is where the design on the page goes completely to the edge. To accomplish this appearance, the design is layed out to actually go beyond the edge of the page. When the page is cut down, this extra space allows for the design to go to the edge without leaving any white space. A regular sized full bleed books does cost a bit extra because a larger paper size is require and more labor is involved in cutting the sheets down. A smaller sized book with a full bleed can be made, with the page printed on a standard sheet and be trimmed down from there.

We offer several different methods for binding your books.

Saddle Stitch: For books range between 4 to 64 pages. This method of binding take a larger sheet (11" x 17" for example) with two (2) pages up on each side, then folds it in half and staples the page sets together. It's called a saddle stitch because with the older handle stapling methods, the pages fit over the bottom of the booklet stapler like a saddle. If your book's page count is not divisible by four (4), then there will be some blank pages at the end of the book.

Perfect Bind: For books ranging from around 30 to 400 pages. The page count can vary dependent on the paper weight used in the book. Lighter weight paper will increase both number and heavier weight paper will decrease both numbers. This method of binding takes the book pages, which are most often single, but in some variations of perfect binding can be four up pages like a in saddle Stitch, and then places a swipe of glue across the spine. The cover is then wrapped around the interior pages.

Our FastBind perfect binding system uses a rotating method, instead of the traditional horizontal method. This rotating method allows for faster set-up, which is needed in POD. The traditional horizontal method required more set-up and alignment of the covers before you can start binding books.

If your book's page count is not divisible by two(2), then there will be a blank page at the end of the book. Perfect binding is used for both soft and hardcover books.

PlastiCoil pr Spiral Bidning: PlastiCoil is made in various sizes and colors to accommodate your binding needs. Coil is a perfect binding methods for frequently used books; fold the book to the page desired and fold over. Coil bound books also have the option to have the front and back cover double laminated in a thicker laminate (either a 3 or 5 mm) than what's used on soft covers, which make for a more durable cover.

If your book's page count is not divisible by two(2), then there will be a blank page at the end of the book.

Casewrap Hardcover: A casewrap hardcover is a type of perfect bound book that, well, has a hard cover wrapped with a printed label. Traditional hardcover books are wrapped in a book binders cloth then a separate printed dust jacket is folded around it. For more information on our casewrap service, please click here.
